Idaho ACP Hindson Conference

Every year in January, all of our residents (R1, R2, R3 and prelims) attend the 4 day Idaho ACP Hindson Conference in the resort town of McCall, Idaho. Lodging is paid for and significant others and families are welcome.  The hospitals and clinics are graciously covered by attendings. Residents enjoy high-quality CME, present their scholarly work, and enjoy all that McCall has to offer (skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, shopping, etc).

Mentorship

All of our residents are assigned a faculty mentor (usually an associate program director or the program director) and are required to meet at least twice per year with that person. Mentors work with individual resident goals in mind, and often facilitate connections with other faculty who can help that resident.

Visiting Fellows Program

University of Washington subspecialty fellows from diverse specialties to come to Boise for 2 days at a time to teach and meet with residents for career exploration and advice.

Professional Societies/MKSAP

All of our residents are given membership to the Ada County Medical Society (ACMS), Idaho Medical Association (IMA) and American College of Physicians (ACP). Many also choose to be members of SGIM, and/or subspecialty organizations. Our categorical residents are given access to MKSAP digital.

Class Specific Retreats

Our R1 categoricals have a “Resident as Teacher” retreat. Our R2s have a “Career Development” day. And our R3s have a “Leadership” retreat.

Professional Development fund

The professional development fund provides up to $450 for professional development, paid each academic year.
