Melissa (Moe) Hagman, MD, FACP

Melissa HagmanDr. Hagman is a native of Boise, Idaho. She graduated from the College of Idaho with a B.S. in Zoology and then attended the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine for her Medical Doctorate. She did her internal medicine residency at the UW spending her first and third years in Seattle and her second year at the Boise VA Medical Center. Dr. Hagman did a chief resident year at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.

She then joined the faculty as a hospitalist and later a board-certified member of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine team. In 2008, Dr. Hagman became an Associate Program Director for the UW Seattle Internal Medicine Residency. She moved back to Boise in 2011 to be an Associate Program Director at the UW Boise Internal Medicine Residency, before becoming the Program Director in 2016. She is a hospitalist and palliative care consultant at the Boise VA Medical Center.

Dr. Hagman is a nationally renowned medical educator. She is the immediate past Governor of the Idaho Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), and she has also held leadership roles in the Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM), Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM), and the Idaho Medical Association (IMA). Dr. Hagman gives multiple regional and national presentations each year and is involved in emceeing ACP “Doctor’s Dilemma” Jeopardy-style contests at the state and national level.

Dr. Hagman lives in Boise with her wife of over 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoys being with family, participating in church activities, and reading a good book.

Michael Krug, MD, FACP

Michael KrugDr. Krug graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Neuroscience and then graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. He did his internal medicine residency and a chief resident year at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.

From 2011-2016 Dr. Krug worked at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. There he worked as a hospitalist, oversaw quality improvement initiatives as the Associate Medical Director for Clinical Resource management, and taught both in the classroom and on the wards as the Assistant Clerkship Director for the 3rd year MS3 program.

Dr. Krug moved to Boise in 2016 to work as a hybrid inpatient-outpatient internist at the Boise VA and as one of the two Associate Program Directors at the UW Boise Internal Medicine Residency.

Dr. Krug is very active in local, regional, and national educational initiatives. He was the co-chair of the 2016 Washington ACP meeting and is the past-president of the Northwest Chapter of SGIM. He has spoken at numerous regional and national meetings, is an author for the MKSAP question bank, and has been a reviewer for Practical Reviews in Internal Medicine for the past 6 years.

Dr. Krug lives in Boise with his wife and 3 children. In his spare time, he enjoys sports and athletics, the outdoors, and Game of Thrones.

Andrea Christopher, MD, MPH, FACP

Andrea ChristopherDr. Christopher (she/her) is a general internist and medical educator at the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She serves as Associate Program Director for the University of Washington (UW) Boise Internal Medicine Residency, as well as Stern Regional Faculty Educator and Clerkship Site Director for the UW School of Medicine.

Dr. Christopher graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine, with a clinical focus on Global Health. She trained at the University of Washington Internal Medicine Residency, serving as Chief Medical Resident for the newly formed UW Boise Internal Medicine Residency. She went on to complete General Internal Medicine Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, with a focus on disparities in access to healthcare. During this time, she completed a master of public health degree at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Christopher’s passion for health equity motivates her interests in medical education and clinical practice. She works to translate her interest in health disparities into teaching physician trainees how health policy and the social determinants of health impact clinical care of patients.
