Overview
Residents generally spend 4-5 half days per week in their continuity clinic, in various formats:
- Continuity Clinic: Consists of same day and follow up visits with resident’s primary care patient panel
- Virtual Clinic: Consists of 1 or more in person patient visits, 1 or more patient telephone calls and dedicated time to address pertinent clinic issues, such as following up on patient labs and communicating with consultants
- Specialty Clinics: Residents are assigned to specialty clinics when they are not in continuity clinic
- During one clinic week, this might mean seeing patients in the Women’s Clinic at the VA, during another, it might mean caring for medically-complex uninsured patients at Terry Reilly Health Services or seeing patients with the VA neurologist
- Residents also have regular procedure clinics and have the opportunity to see patients in almost any of the VA’s specialty clinics
- Admin: Consists of one 4-hour session per week
