Electives

Overview

We offer electives in medical subspecialties and non-internal medicine specialties. These are typically based at the Boise VAMC, Saint Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, or at the hospitals of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.

We provide housing for rotations greater than 40 miles from Boise.

Subspecialty electives include:

• Cardiology
• Endocrinology
• Gastroenterology (endoscopy or consult focus)
• Hematology-oncology
• Infectious disease
• Allergy/immunology
• Nephrology
• Pulmonary
• Women’s health
• Rheumatology
• Palliative medicine
• Sports medicine
• Sleep medicine

Non-internal medicine electives include:

• Psychiatry
• Dermatology
• Ophthalmology
• Otorhinolaryngology
• Non-operative orthopedics
• Radiology
• Rehabilitation medicine

Special electives can often be arranged for residents with demonstrated educational needs. Examples include additional intensive care unit rotations and dermatologic pathology.
